Another place that had been on my list to try for aeons - finally tried it last Friday for lunch (most of the menu is a dollar or two cheaper for lunch on weekdays than the rest of the time, as indicated by the slashed prices on the menu). Funny enough, I'd passed it by a million times on my way to places further down 4th st - it's a lot smaller than it looks from the outside, with only a single row of a few tables, plus the patio area (though it is fun that the tables inside look right into the kitchen, which takes up the rest of the building.) Ramen prices are currently $15-16 for lunch on weekdays ($16-17 the rest of the time), which unfortunately is pretty reasonable-sounding these days (I had the spicy tonkotsu, my usual ramen order). They also have a combo where for $6-8 more, you can get a mini salad and a half-sized rice bowl - being my first time trying the place, I had to also upgrade and try their unagi, especially after the last time I'd had unagi being rather disappointing. Service was great start to finish, zero complaints there. The salad was just a salad, nothing particularly exciting about it - pretty good dressing, but obviously not the point of the combo. The unagi was *excellent* (definitely worth $8, and almost as large as some nominally full-size unagi bowls I've had other places.) Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned unagi. The ramen was... good. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, and probably as good as any other ramen I've had in Long Beach. Not as good as some ramen I've had in parts of LA with more of a Japanese restaurant focus, though, but solid. Good but not amazing broth, good but not amazing noodles, good but not amazing portions... I will say, though, the *meat* in the ramen was top tier - some ramen places, even extremely good ones, skimp on the pork belly unless you pay extra, with just a couple thin-shaved pieces of pork. Here, you get a solid amount of pretty thick-cut, juicy, meaty pork belly, definitely more than I was expecting. Zero complaints there. (I was going to give them 4 stars, but decided to give them 5 entirely on that basis. It *is* probably where I'd send people at this point if they were looking for ramen in LB - HiroNori has better noodles and slightly more umami-ful broth, but Jounetsu definitely has better - and more - meat, plus you're probably more likely to get a table quicker.) Their special lunch prices also include *extremely* cheap Japanese beer (the usual imports you see at every Japanese place), and $2 off all the sake. I had a $12 nigori (normally $14), which given it was a 375 ml bottle, isn't bad at all (admittedly the same bottle is $6.50 at Total Wine right now, but obviously you're paying for more than just the bottle itself.) p.s. parking sucks, but you know what there's always plenty of parking for? Bikes.

I was craving ramen so bad and wanted to try this place out after a while seeing it on social media. We came right when they opened which is at 4:30 & they had happy hour! We ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen and the regular tonkatsu ramen. I'm a fan of spicy and the spicy tonkatsu was perfect amount of spice for me. I enjoyed the pork broth in the tonkatsu ramen, not too porky like some other ramen spots I've been to. Considering we were the only ones there during the time, service was fast and our shrimp tempura roll came out first & the shrimp tempura was still warm. We also got an iced green tea which was very refreshing which had unlimited refills. There was inside seating as well as outdoor seating. Most of the tables are two tops and I saw one four top table inside. Price was affordable and food was great.

Fantastic Service! The Ramen combination was very filling! The cheese chicken bowl was as delicious but the ramen was just ok. I added black garlic to my order but it didn't make it much better, or mix well with the ramen. I would reccomend to a friend. Inside is a cool vibe, narrow style like your in Tokyo with hand painted walls.

This was my first visit to this spot. It's located on a busy street lined with shops and eateries. The parking is awful there's usually no spots in front and only occasionally on the entire block which is why my daughter and I took an Uber ride over on Sunday in Cali. The vibe inside is comfy with a row of clean tables and very nice attentive staff more importantly it's cool inside. Our drinks Pellegrino sparkling water for my daughter and coke for me. Vegan Ramen Both of us ordered our vegan ramen with mushrooms corn tofu and green onions we chose spinach noodles and made ours spicy the broth was flavorful the noodles were nice and chewy so bomb the tofu was soft and delicious the mushrooms flavored the broth nicely but tasted spongy they need to dice them smaller -- next time I'll asked for them to be cooked the way I like because this gal picked them all out. I would definitely order this again but my daughter is on the fence about it she's a ramen snob she feel it was ok but definitely not all that l. Our sides for the ramen were. Crushed garlic was my daughters she loves it in her ramen. Spicy siracha had a nice kick. Chicken Gyoza For me they were nice and flavorful next time I'll get them fried harder overall they were tasty I ate them with spicy siracha and soy sauce but they are best eaten hot. Tempura Shrimp I asked them to be fried extra crispy and they were so good and I used spicy siracha as the dipping sauce. I love Ramen a lot and usually eat vegan when I'm eating dinner with my daughter vegan ramen is healthier and very tasty on my next visit I'll order Tonkatsu grilled pork and grilled quid with lemon on a solo visit. Come check it out the menu is extensive and everything is reasonably priced this is just my opinion. Overall we had good service tasty food with a chill ambiance. Until next time it's just me Shawn C. , ; )

This quaint shop was really great ! The food quality was very high and the staff was very friendly! I ordered ramen and sushi. the ramen broth was deeply flavorful and the pork was cooked perfectly. There is a happy hour with discounts. I uploaded a photo with the days and times. It's near the beach so parking might be a little trouble, but there is a lot of street parking near the restaurant.

The Best Ramen that I've tried in Long Beach! I was really impressed by the incredible flavors of the ramen here. They slow cooked their ramen broth for 18 hours, so it develops a really rich flavor and creamy texture. Their pork belly is cooked for 5 hours and that what makes it super tender and so delicious. I love how they don't skimp on the toppings here, and every ramen they serve comes with a boiled egg, no need to pay extra compare to other ramen spots. I highly recommend their Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, it really hits the spot each bite and the spiciness level was just right Also tried their Eel Bowl which didn't disappoint, it was so soft and love the sauce it came with. Also ordered their Takoyaki and Naked Shrimp for appetizers, I love how creamy and crispy the shrimp was! I highly recommend this spot if you're looking for great quality and affordable meal.

I'm no Ramen expert, but I've ordered Jounetsu before using DoorDash. This was my first time dining in, so I parked a few blocks away on 4th. I was promptly seated and served quickly. I showed up at the right time because there was a large party outside. I like how open the restaurant is in such a compact space. I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu with Chashu. The pork belly was fat. The broth was a little spicy at first, then subsided. The service was friendly and great!

Jounetsu Ramen offers a visually appealing dining experience, especially with the design that allows you to look out at the street from the tables. This is a nice touch, though the parking situation does diminish its charm slightly, especially since you can only park in front for a few minutes. The tonkotsu ramen was tasty, but it would have been even better with an extra slice of pork to enhance the richness of the dish. The staff at Jounetsu Ramen were very nice and attentive, which helped make the dining experience more enjoyable despite the parking inconvenience. Overall, it's a good spot for ramen, provided you can manage the parking challenges.
